Today's Catch

What's Biting today?    This is Probably the most asked question on the dock. You can check in periodically to see what the crew of the Sun Daze has been doing.  Whether it is full swing charter season or if we are in the off season learning new tricks and techniques from other captains around the globe.  We are striving to be one of the best Charter operations on the East Coast.  We will constantly seek out better ways to catch more fish.  Whether it is a new rigging technique that is being perfected in another part of the world, or a classic skill that needs to be honed.  We will be on top of our game at all times.

Fishing report
Well the past couple of weeks have been chocked full of fun.  We have had some good days in the back bays catching quite a few flounder as well as a lot of spot.  The kids really seem to have a good time loading up the livewell with spot and then taking them out to drift for some flounder.  On the offshore scene we have been catching a lot of tunas.  They are very small though.  Out of 40 bites we might see three or four make the 27" minimum.  Our biggest one to date has been only about 30#'s  At least the catching is good.  Give me a call if you want to go fishing!

Weekly fishing update
Well this week was fun.  Spent some time at site 11 and caught a lot of sea bass.  Lots of little ones mixed was the occasional keeper.  We did manage a few nice flounder this week in the back bay.  However the best catch overall this week was the surprise catch of a 100# brown shark.  The shark was caught by a 9 year old little girl while flounder fishing in the slough behind the VFW.  This was the biggest shark I have ever seen back in the bay.  It took her about 30 mins to get the fish to the boat.  We managed to get it right up to the boat before the leader on the flounder rig broke.  Pretty exciting stuff for an average day of flounder fishing in the bay!

Memorial Day weekend fishing
This weekend as usual the bay was a zoo! Tons of boats and most people running around with no regard for anything that is civil. Anyway we did manage to catch some fish this weekend despite the heavy pressure. There were the usual amouts of bluefish caught in the inlet, which was fun for the kids. Lots of action and fast paced. The flounder bite was a little slow, but we managed to pull a few out of the back bay. The best catch was on a charter on Sunday where Lisa Mitnick managed a 22" fish. All in all it was a fun weekend with warm weather and a lot of fish caught.

March 01

It's cold out time to start thinking about going Fishing
Well it is March 1st 2009 and it is freezing and drizzling rain.  What better to do today than give me a call and get booked for a spring flounder trip!  April is typically when they start to show up.  This is usually some of the best flounder fishing we see all year in the bays.  It is not too crowded and the fish are usually biting pretty good.  They begin to trickle in in the beginning of the month and by mid May they are in full force!  Limits of fish are usually caught within a few hours.  The fish this time of the year tend to be bigger in size than the summer months.  With the addition of our new boat we will be going after the flounder in force this year!  So don't sit there wondering what you will be doing next month.  Give me a call and book your trip now!

February 05

WInter time and an announcement
Well it has been pretty cold out there this winter.  The last of our season's striper trips ended with a bang.  Lots of hogs caught just a short run from the inlet.  Ended the season with a broken throttle cable.  Oh well it's a boat if it ain't broke you just haven't found it yet.  The Sundaze is in the winter storage in our warehouse where we will be doing the winter maintenance.  Hopefully we will get an early spring and splash sometime in April.  Anyway the new news is I will be adding a second boat to the Sundaze Fleet.  The 23' Sea Pro will be added this year to do some more back bay charters and inshore stuff.  We will be running family trips and sight seeing as well.  This will be a nice addition to the fleet and provide some fun times in the bay for families as well as hardcore fishermen. This will be great for anyone who wants to just get out on the water.  We will be running half and full day trips as well as customizable sailing schedules. Once I get the pricing figured out on this I will post it up on the website.  Until then tight lines!
